The rear section of Olde St. Ann's Church was built in 1853, followed
by the construction of the main section, including the nave, in 1870.
The church underwent major restoration to return it to its 1870
condition before it was moved to its current location at the Pioneer
Village Historic Site on the north side of Scott County Park in rural
Iowa.
The stained glass windows were first professionally restored in 2010
by Glass Heritage, llc. These 140-year-old historic windows were
carefully removed by our skilled site crew and brought to our studio
where they were disassembled, cleaned, re-leaded and weatherproofed.
Additional work was done on some of the finer painted details which
had deteriorated to the point of being virtually illegible (see before
and after images below).
Now reinstalled, the windows can be appreciated and admired by the
many visitors to the Pioneer Village, including the many people who
still use the charming old church for their weddings.
